Mellow Yellow

This is the time of year Premier One Automotive sees yellow cars everywhere. In fact, in local parking lots, we see thick yellow dust on vehicles, complete with a tinge of green. The numerous pine trees are in full bloom, looking for the winds of the Triangle for pollination!

The thickness of the pine pollen will be over soon. Yet, everything is mellow yellow this spring! Across pine-laden Wake and Chatham Counties, the pollen has blanketed everything! Plumes of dust follow the cars as they move on 540, U.S.1, and 64!

Pollen coats everything. For weeks, we will see the trail of yellow clouds. Remember, it does hamper visibility when driving.

Premier One Automotive in Historic Apex offers four great ideas to battle the yellow:

  • Purchase brand new wipers directly from us. We have them in stock.
  • Use glass cleaner and a squeegee on all automotive glass, home, and office windows.
  • Keep the windshield washer solvent reservoir under the hood full at all times. It is okay this time of year for a 50/ 50 mix of water and fluid.
  • Wash the car once a week at the $2 spray-off car wash, or run it through a full-service exterior care center.

After the “pollen” season, make an appointment with our ASE Certified Technicians at P1A to have all the filters checked, especially the air filter and cabin filter.

100,000 Miles On the Odometer

Those of us in the Triangle drive cars with miles on them. It is the sign of the times, used and new vehicles are extremely expensive in 2022. The good news is that many components in modern cars have been replaced with longer-lasting electronic parts, like ignitions systems and fuel injectors. There is not much that can go wrong for thousands of miles. However, these parts still can need maintenance. It is important to have your vehicle properly maintained on a regular basis. One thing you cannot forget is the 100,000-mile mark.

At Premier One Automotive, we do a complete computer diagnostic assessment with every engine check-up. Although the computer check is limited to certain functions, it is imperative to get an assessment done.

When a vehicle (import or domestic) reaches its 100,000-mile mark, we check:

  • Spark plugs
  • Engine coolant
  • Radiators and engine hoses
  • Fuel and water pumps
  • Oil system
  • Belts
  • Brakes

Checking your vehicle currently is extremely important, especially if maintenance on your vehicle has been an intermittent priority. Even a well-maintained car needs regularly scheduled maintenance.

Premier One Automotive can help motorists here in the Triangle save money in the long run. With the rising price of gasoline engine efficiency decreases expenses. Original spark plugs and wires replaced at 100,000 miles can make a noticeable difference.

Bring your vehicle by the shop if it has reached six figures for a complete inspection. P1A is located off US 1 and Ten-Ten Rd in Apex.

If you own an Audi, BMW, Volvo, Acura, Lexus, Infiniti, Porsche, or Jaguar; we are the only automotive service center you will ever need.

10 Strategies for Automobiles in Inflationary 2022

Every vehicle owner in Apex and across the Triangle has seen prices rise across the board for everything from food to gasoline. Interest rates rise higher every day. As a nation, since COVID, many of us are driving less because of new working-at-home situations and budget. More challenging is the fact many drivers own older vehicles.

Some people drive only to and from work or to local locations because of the continuing pandemic. These days, a vehicle can often sit in the drive, or the garage more than it is driven. Lower miles on older vehicles are more and more common.

Here are 10 strategies for longevity that Premier One Automotive can help owners in Apex, Cary, and the Triangle with a call to 919 387 6800:

  • Remember that low miles and limited use can create multiple issues with the battery, tires, belts, and hoses.
  • There can be more and more condensation in the gas tank.
  • Think about changes in the oil-based on time, not miles.
  • Tires can, after four or five years can show stages of dry rot, especially on the side walls; check for cracks in the rubber.
  • Three years of use is all you can expect out of a car battery when it is not used much.
  • Check the engine air filter and sure it is not dirty.
  • Keep the drive train, driveshafts, and the suspension lubed and inspected.
  • Belts and hoses can rot and crack. Make sure they function properly.
  • Fluids are critical in low mileage situations. Assess brake, power steering, and radiator fluids every six months.
  • A tune-up is a great preventive maintenance strategy with low mileage older vehicles.
